How a Lorain County Bakery Honors the Legacy of Its Beloved Late Owner

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Dennis Looney lost his wife Janette just six months ago to a brain hemorrhage.

“She was a lovely human being,” Looney said of Janette. “And the reason we all come to Nothing But Cakes, to bring joy to the community.”

The couple owns several Nothing Bundt Cakes bakeries in Northeast Ohio.

Janette’s sudden death shocked her family, friends and the community.

On Wednesday, her husband and their employees cut the ribbon on their new store in Amherst.

They remember Janette as having a huge heart.

She always gave back and wanted her employees to feel loved.

It turns out Janette was an organ donor. She was able to help more than 120 people.

“It really changed our view of what organ and tissue donation really is. And Lifebanc has been instrumental in helping us get through a very difficult time,” Looney said.

To honor Janette and help even more people, this week Looney is receiving 10% of all profits from the Nothing Bundt Cakes Amherst location to benefit Lifebanc.

On Saturday, November 16, 20% of profits from the Amherst, Avon and Strongsville locations will be donated to Lifebanc.

“If she knew the impact she has on so many lives, she would be extremely proud,” Looney said.
