Search warrant leads to man’s arrest on multiple drug charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A man police stopped for speeding on Watterson Highway was arrested 10 days later on multiple drug charges.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Na’aman Coleman, 42, of Louisville, on October 22.

According to court documents, on Oct. 12, Coleman was cited for driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone. Ten days later, detectives served a search warrant at Coleman’s home as part of a drug investigation. The citations indicate that Coleman was the primary target of the investigation.

During a search of the home, police found approximately three pounds of methamphetamine, more than two pounds of marijuana, more than three ounces of what they suspect was powder cocaine and more than 20 doses of alprazolam. Police also discovered a large quantity of cash and drug-related items.

During the search, ten handguns were also found, some of which were loaded with restricted ammunition. One of the guns had been reported stolen in Jennings County, Indiana. Coleman, who is a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms.

LMPD detectives say Coleman’s home was within 1,000 feet of a school.

Coleman was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on three counts of Enhanced Trafficking in Controlled Substances, one count of Enhanced Trafficking in Marijuana, Use of Restricted Ammunition in a Crime, Receiving a Weapon firearms and trafficking in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school.
