It’s been less than 24 hours since Freddie Freeman hit a grand slam in Game 1 of the World Series, but the Dodgers have already put together a display honoring the iconic moment.

A display featuring Freeman’s worn jersey and the game’s lineup card is located on the suite level of Dodger Stadium along with a photo.

Television viewership for the World Series increased significantly from last year and was at its highest level for a game opener since 2017, Fox announced today.

After winning the first game, the Dodgers are in control. Since MLB adopted the best-of-seven format for the postseason, teams winning Game 1 have won 65% of the series.

In the World Series, teams that won Game 1 have won the title 23 of 29 times since 1995, according to MLB.

Two of the times the loser of Game 1 won the World Series? The Yankees in 1996 and 2009. Both times the Yankees won in six games.

The New York Port Authority will host free public screenings of the 2024 MLB World Series from October 25 to World Trade Center.

Screenings will take place at the North Oculus Plaza, and fans will be able to order food and drinks from nearby stores and restaurants at the Oculus Beer Garden and Westfield World Trade Center.

Additional activities, giveaways, and dining options will be available starting with viewing Game 2.

Although Aaron Judge is likely to win the AL MVP, it was Giancarlo Stanton who was the Yankees’ leading hitter in the postseason.

Stanton entered Game 1 of the World Series hitting .294 with five home runs and an OPS of 1.179. He had also homered in three straight games – and extended that streak to four on Friday night.

Stanton’s 17 postseason home runs are fourth all-time in Yankees history.

LOS ANGELES — New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was voted American League Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player for the second time by his major league colleagues at the Association’s annual Players Choice Awards Major League Baseball players.

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani was voted National League MVP, the union announced Saturday.

Judge led the major leagues with 58 home runs and 144 RBIs, hitting .322. He also won both awards in 2022.

Ohtani became the first player with 50 home runs and 50 stolen basesbatting .310 with 54 home runs, 130 RBIs and 59 steals. He was voted AL MVP in 2021 and 2023 while with the Los Angeles Angels and won Player of the Year in 2021.

Milwaukee first baseman Rhys Hoskins won the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award, given to a player whose leadership inspires others, as well as the Philanthropist of the Year award. Along with his wife Jayme, Hoskins has raised more than $1 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
