MONETA, Va. (WDBJ) – The Bedford County Sheriff’s Department is searching for an armed robber after an incident Monday evening in the Moneta area.

Deputies were dispatched at 7:46 p.m. to the 4000 block of Stony Fork Road for the report of an armed robbery.

Police say the victim said a man wearing a mask came out from behind the victim’s home and showed a gun before demanding his belongings.

Police say the victim then handed over items and cash, and the thief fled.

No description of the armed robber has been released and the investigation is still ongoing, deputies added.
