Google CEO says company should be a ‘trusted source’ in US elections

Hello Googlers,

Tomorrow is Election Day here and many Americans will head to the polls to vote for everything from the school board to judges to Congress to the president.

The teams at Google and YouTube have worked hard to ensure our platforms provide voters with high-quality, reliable information, just as we have for many other elections around the world. contested elections this year, from France to India to the UK to Mexico and beyond, with over a billion people voting in 2024.

We should be proud of our work, as well as the efforts of our teams to keep campaigns secure, provide accurate information on where and how to vote, and provide digital advertising solutions to campaigns. Thank you to everyone working around the clock on these efforts throughout the election campaign and as votes are counted.

As with other elections, the outcome will be a major topic of conversation in living rooms and elsewhere around the world. And of course, the outcome will have important consequences.

Regardless of who voters trust, let’s remember the role we play at work, through the products we build, and as a company: to be a trusted source of information for people of all origins and beliefs. We will and must maintain this. With this in mind, it is important that everyone continues to follow our community guidelines and policy regarding personal political activity.

Beyond Election Day, our work to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful will continue. Al has given us a tremendous opportunity to advance this mission, create great products and partnerships, drive innovation, and make meaningful contributions to the national and local economies. Our business is at its best when we focus on this.

Thank you, Sundar
