San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa was fined nearly $12,000 by the NFL on Saturday after wearing a MAGA hat during a postgame interview last month following a victory against the Dallas Cowboys.

Bosa crushed a live shot between several 49ers players and NBC Sports Melissa Stark – holding up a specialized hat with gold letters to show support for Donald Trump.

ESPN reported after the match:

After wearing the hat in support of former President Donald Trump’s candidacy during the postgame interview, Bosa made his way to the podium for his usual postgame session. Asked repeatedly about his decision to take the blame, Bosa declined to elaborate on his reasoning, saying: “I’m not going to talk too much about it but I think it’s an important moment. »

The 27 year old Ohio State alumnus spoke about the incident after the election and welcomed a possible fine, explaining the election results: “Clearly the nation has spoken and we got what we got. »

According to ESPN Adam SchefterBosa was fined $11,255 for what the NFL considers a uniform violation. Schefter reported on his X page:

The NFL fined 49ers DE Nick Bosa $11,255 for wearing a MAGA hat during Sunday night’s postgame interviews on NBC. Bosa told reporters he knew the NFL might fine him, but it was “worth it.”

In a follow-up tweet, Schefter added:

According to the NFL: Rule 5, Section 4, Article 8 of the NFL Rules states that “throughout the period of game day in which a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including including during pre-match warm-ups, in the bench area, and during post-match interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying or transmitting any other way of personal messages, whether in writing or by illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office.
