Quarterback Brock Purdy appeared on the injury report this week after suffering a right shoulder issue during the team’s Week 11 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. More signs emerged Thursday suggesting the injury could actually cause Purdy to miss time.

Purdy participated at least on a limited basis in Thursday’s practice, but did not take part in any of the throwing drills open to the media. Perhaps more telling, the 49ers pushed Purdy’s traditional weekly press conference from Thursday to Friday, suggesting the organization really doesn’t know who will start in Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers.

The 49ers are pushing the quarterback’s press conference from today’s usual location to Friday, reflecting a fluid situation with Brock Purdy (shoulder) for Sunday’s game at Green Bay. This could be Brandon Allen out of the bullpen.

Despite the uncertainty, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said during his weekly appearance on KNBR that Purdy actually increased his workload from yesterday’s practice. The coach spoke as if Purdy was still the scheduled starter for Sunday.

Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR that Brock Purdy had very little practice today and was working on his rehab. “I hope he feels good on Sunday,” he said.

Brandon Allen would be in the running to start for the 49ers if Purdy can’t go.

The Niners have been tight-lipped about the nature of Purdy’s problem. He only became public on Mondaya day after their loss to the Seahawks. Purdy went 21/28 for 159 yards, one touchdown and one interception in that game, and showed no visible signs of injury.
