“I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital”

Mike Tyson has shed light on the medical issues that initially delayed his fight against Jake Paul.

In an article on his official X accountTyson wrote: “I almost died in June. I have had 8 blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy, so I won.

The fight between Tyson and Paul was originally scheduled for July 20, but it was postponed to November after Tyson suffered what was believed to be an ulcer flare-up in late May.

Tyson also said he was “grateful” and had “no regrets about getting in the ring one last time.”

“Having my kids see me face to face and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys Stadium is an experience no man has the right to ask for. THANKS.”

After eight rounds, Paul, 27, was victorious over former world heavyweight champion Tyson, 58, in a unanimous decision.

Besides Paul vs. Tyson, the main card also featured a highly touted rematch between undisputed welterweight champion Katie Taylor and unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, which saw Taylor once again defeat Serrano by a controversial unanimous decision. Taylor had already won the initial fight between the two via a split decision. Other fights included the one between Mario Barrios and Abel Ramos for the WBC welterweight world title which ended in a split draw, and Neeraj Goyat defeating Whindersson Nunes by unanimous decision.
