The Property Brothers Introduces New Home Renovation Show

Movieguide® Contributor

The Property Brothers have just launched their new show, DON’T HATE YOUR HOME, on November 13, and they share all the interesting aspects that make it special.

“It’s relevant. That’s the main theme,” Drew Scott common with MSNBC on November 12. “Most people we meet hate their house for one reason or another, but we’ve tried to find some of these people who are… just trying to survive in the house and (they’re) willing to give but the cost of moving to a new house and the cost of taxes, realtor fees, everything else, they can’t afford to move. So we come and try to show them that there is hope in their home. » And “There is light at the end of the tunnel with their house.”

“Every person has something about them that drives them crazy. No one else may notice it, but you notice it and this resentment gets to you! » Drawn expressed to TV Insider. “Even Jonathan and I have things we can’t stand in our homes and you’d think ours would be perfect. But no ! “

Drew’s twin, Jonathan, loves that the “thing” people hate the most isn’t easy to fix. However, there are plenty of other things that make the house worth it.

“It’s the wall that sticks out awkwardly in your kitchen or the pedestal sink in your bathroom. That’s what makes this show so great, because these houses have good framing or are ideally located,” Jonathan added. “Families just need help to resolve these issues so they can finally move on…and find something else to hate.” »

One of the most common complaints is lack of space or poor use of space, which “makes sense” because people’s space needs change, but the home does not.

“But there are always solutions, whether it’s decluttering, smarter storage, opening up the floor plan or even aesthetic improvements. All it takes is a little creativity to solve problems. And us, of course,” Drew said.

The show’s opening star property includes a large garden and five rescue dogs, which poses a bit of a challenge.

Jonathon joked that the biggest obstacle was “Bringing enough treats for the dogs!” (Laughs) Space was by far the biggest problem here… They were constantly tripping over each other.

“We were able to accomplish this with better layout and access to the yard, but it was a challenge,” Drew said. “We also added a special little addition for the puppies, because our goal is always to make every member of the family happy.”

Speaking of backyards, these are Jonathon’s favorite features to reinvent.

“Backyards are my favorite. Outdoor space is such a luxury and I like to maximize its potential so families can use it as much as possible,” he said.

Usually houses have certain features that need to go, and both brothers love the opportunity to tear things down.

“Demo day is the best! It’s a great form of therapy,” Jonathon said. “Are you having a bad day or need to get out of your aggression? Nothing beats a hammer.

“There’s something so liberating about tearing down that part of your house that’s been taunting you for all these years,” Drew said. “The owners were really unleashing their demons!

The brothers spent 11 years as HGTV hosts and grew up a lot together through that experience.

“Even though our lives are totally different now with our kids and partners, we’re still the same guys who like to play pranks and have fun,” Drew said.

“If anything, our dad’s jokes have only gotten better,” Jonathan added. “Or worse, depending on who you ask…”
