Jharkhand Election 2024, Amit Shah says Rahul Gandhi promised minority quota by reducing SC ST OBC reservations

Jharkhand Election 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a series of rallies in Jharkhand, launched a fierce attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disrespecting the Constitution and plan to introduce reservations for minorities at the cost of existing quotas for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally in Palamu on Saturday, Shah slammed Rahul for allegedly holding up a “fake copy of the Constitution”. According to news agency PTI, Shah said, “Rahul Gandhi shows a copy of the Constitution. It was exposed two days ago. Someone received a copy of the Constitution and showed it. The Constitution of India was written on the cover of this copy which was void of any content… Don’t make fun of the Constitution. It’s a matter of faith and trust. By brandishing a fake copy of the Constitution, you have insulted BR Ambedkar and the Constituent Assembly. The Congress party has made a mockery of the Constitution.”

He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to make November 26 Constitution Day to preserve its sanctity. Shah further accused the Congress of conspiring to grab reservations meant for OBCs, tribals and Dalits. He said, “Congress is against OBC quota, it promised 10 per cent reservation to minorities when a delegation of ulama met Congress leaders in Maharashtra. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the BJP will never allow reservations based on religion.”

The Home Minister also slammed the Congress for its alleged efforts to reinstate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “Kashmir is an integral part of India. I warn Rahul Gandhi that even your fourth generation will not be able to bring back Article 370.”

Bangladeshi infiltrators grab jobs, marry girls from Jharkhand: Amit Shah in Hazaribag

Targeting the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led government, Shah described it as the “most corrupt government in the country”. He accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of prioritizing corruption and facilitating infiltration, saying, “The CM says infiltration is the political agenda of the BJP. I say it’s CM’s bank… Corrupt leaders will be hanged upside down.” Shah claimed that the JMM-led administration had allowed the Maoists to flourish, but he credited Prime Minister Modi for uprooting Maoist activities over the last decade.

Additionally, Shah addressed a rally in Hazaribag, where he accused the JMM-led government of various scams, including those involving MGNREGA, land, mining and liquor. He said, “They devoured the free ration sent by PM Modi. “Accusing Bangladeshi infiltrators of taking jobs and disrupting local communities, he claimed that “Bangladeshi infiltrators are grabbing jobs and marrying girls from Jharkhand.”

Highlighting the development promises, Shah announced plans to build an airport at Hazaribag, assuring that the ‘bhoomi pujan’ would take place within 90 days. He likened the BJP to a “power line to transmit prosperity”, while criticizing the JMM-led coalition as a “burnt transformer”. Shah also expressed confidence in India’s economic progress, saying “India will become the world’s third largest economy by December 2027 under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.”

These rallies come ahead of Jharkhand’s parliamentary elections, scheduled for November 13 and 20, and the counting of votes is scheduled for November 23.
