While shoppers will enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to rummage through racks of curated, great condition clothing, people looking to sell their own second-hand clothing will also find what they need in the store, he said. -she declared.

“Like many, I faced the challenge of sorting unworn clothing, listing items online, managing buyers and worrying about shipping. With Coco Star, I wanted to simplify this process by giving people a place to take their second-hand vintage clothing, with sellers receiving 50% of the sale price. This is about tackling the negative stigma often associated with second-hand shopping. Our mission is to reshape the way second-hand clothing is perceived, creating a community of conscious consumers who value the impact of their purchases.

She purchased the store from previous owner Kim Pointon and reopened the doors in October. She said she was thrilled when the opportunity to buy the business came on the market.

“I have always been interested in the fashion and clothing industries. I’ve also always wanted to go to second-hand and thrift stores to get good deals and avoid adding to the fast-fashion problem. So when this came up, I thought I would take the opportunity and give it a try. The company already came with the building, it’s a great place.

The store offers Levin shoppers an eco-friendly alternative to online shopping on foreign sites, she said.

“Levin needs sustainable fashion options. When you shop at Coco Star, you are purchasing second-hand clothing and helping to extend the life cycle of clothing. When you choose a used item over a new one, you reduce your carbon footprint by 82%. On top of that, it’s a way to get your hands on quality branded items at cheaper prices.

In addition to protecting the environment, the store helps the local community, she said.

“Coco Star has a donation program that manages your end-of-life clothing to support the local community in several ways. Any unpurchased and uncollected clothing items automatically join the program or people can donate directly when they drop them off. Local charities we support include Hato Hone St John, Women’s Refuge and Dress for Success.

Bellik said selling and buying second-hand items is a sustainable way for people to refresh their wardrobe while helping to reduce pollution.

“The fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to environmental pollution and I believe Coco Star is part of the necessary change towards a more sustainable future.”
