50 Cent Reveals First Profits From ‘Power’ Series

50 Cent revealed he initially took on multiple roles related to producing the hit series Power during the show’s early seasons.

During his recent interview with Steve Stoute at UnitedMasters’ SelectConNYC event, the G-Unit rap mogul and TV powerhouse dropped a bombshell about his early earnings on the hit series STARZ. Power. Despite wearing many hats on the show, 50 Cent told attendees that he only makes a modest $17,000 per episode.

“On the show Power, I was paid $17,000 to be an executive producer, to be a recurring character, to be almost a music supervisor, to create the theme song for the show,” 50 Cent said.

When Steve Stoute pressed for confirmation, 50 Cent peeled back the layers again, revealing the major pay gap between his fees for appearances and what he earned for his prominent roles in producing the show.

“$17,000 an episode – I get paid more to go to a nightclub and say hello,” he said.

50 Cent then explained that his vision went beyond salary and was driven by his determination to prove the value of his idea.

“I just wanted them (STARZ) to get pregnant with the idea that we have to have this baby,” he said. Stoute dug deeper, wondering what possessed Jackson to work on the series at a rate far below his usual income.

“I wanted to do the show,” 50 Cent said, adding that his determination was not only about personal gain but also about telling a story that resonated with his culture.

“No one in our culture has made television and produced what they wanted to make,” he concluded.

Today, Power is much more than a cult classic, as the franchise has cemented itself in television history. The original series attracted more than 2 million viewers per episode at its peak and generated hundreds of millions in revenue for STARZ.

Throughout six seasons and numerous spinoffs, including Book of Power II: Ghost And Book of Power III: Raising Kanan– the franchise received critical acclaim and several NAACP Image Awards, cementing 50 Cent’s bet as one of the best of his career. Not to mention, 50 Cent also won a billion-dollar lawsuit in August against the show after defeating former drug lord Cory “Ghost” Holland in a court battle after claiming that the entertainment mogul had stolen his life story to create Power.

The rap star defeated three lawsuits filed against him by Holland in the 2021 lawsuit against 50 Cent, Courtney Kemp, Starz and Lionsgate, claiming that Power illegally reflected Holland’s life without his consent.
