Noida Authority assures Sector 11 residents of help in civic matters

Urgent action orders have been issued and new initiatives proposed as part of the initiative that aims to provide rapid solutions to community problems by putting authority officials in direct contact with residents, officials said .

Certainly, according to information from the Sector 11 Resident Protection Association, there are about 400 three-story villas and the provisional population is about 2,000. In a meeting with visiting Noida authority officials on Friday, residents highlighted various issues affecting their daily lives.

Apoorva Kumar, one of the residents, said the overflow of sewage near the metro hospital area was becoming unbearable, especially during monsoons. “The stench and unsanitary conditions make it difficult for us and our customers. We urgently need proper sewerage management to ensure a clean and safe environment,” he added.

“High levels of TDS (total dissolved solids) in drinking water are a persistent problem, making the water unsafe. We have been calling for quality testing and better filtration measures for a long time, and it is reassuring to finally see the authority addressing this concern,” said Dinesh Krishnan, general secretary of RWA Sector 11.

“We also highlighted the lack of security personnel which has long raised security concerns among residents here. Moreover, the entry point to the sector is through beautification,” he added.

The campaign by Noida authorities involves officials visiting areas to address residents’ concerns.

For civic infrastructure, the RWA called for the construction of a new community center, beautification of vacant land, installation of security barriers and repair of public amenities in local markets.

In response, authorities said they would prioritize the maintenance of these facilities.

Additional directions have been issued to identify and curb suspected encroachments of hawkers on major roads and to install clear signboards across the area for better navigation, officials said.

In response, the authority ensured the creation of testing points and exploration of measures to improve water quality. Additionally, the Landscaping Division has been tasked with regular tree pruning, pesticide spraying, and clearing of overgrown grass and weeds on vacant plots owned by the authority in order to improve both the aesthetics and hygiene of the sector, they added.

“Aware of the urgency of these requests, heads of relevant departments have been asked to submit well-structured proposals within three weeks, including feasibility, cost analysis and clear deadlines. The progress made on these guidelines will be reviewed in the next meeting to ensure timely execution,” Lokesh M, Managing Director, told HT on Saturday.

“The Noida Aapke Dwar initiative underlines the commitment to listening to residents and promptly addressing their concerns,” he added.

Noida authority officials also explained that the department concerned has been directed to assess the nearly 45-year-old sewer line which frequently overflows due to aging infrastructure, and expedite plans for replacement if necessary.
