SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – For those looking to keep their pets safe this holiday season, the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is partnering with Best Care Pet Hospital to host a microchip clinic this week .

The clinic will take place on November 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the humane society.

Best Care Pet Hospital sponsors the first 50 microchips free of charge. Subsequently, electronic chips will be available at a cost of $20 plus taxes.

Microchipping is a simple and effective way to bring home a lost pet. Each microchip has a unique identification number that can be quickly scanned by veterinary practices and shelters. This identification is linked to the owner’s contact details, ensuring that animals can be safely reunited with their families.
