UTA begins process of cutting agents at the end of the year

EXCLUSIVE: Further reductions are expected in the agency world.

UTA has begun the process of dismissing a number of officers in various areas. Deadline understands that agents in its talent department, production group, unscripted division and promotional and licensing business are set to leave.

It is a process similar to one who recently started at CAAwhere the company, now owned by François-Henri Pinault’s Artémis after finalizing a majority stake last September, is beginning its end-of-year evaluations which will result in the dismissal of agents.

We hear that at UTA, this could concern a low double-digit number of agents, around ten people.

A UTA spokeswoman denied it was a set of layoffswhere the focus is on downsizing, but that is part of its normal agency management activity. She said UTA, which employs approximately 2,200 people, has also added more than 20 agents to the company in the past twelve months.

This is different from last year’s layoffs at UTA, where the company laid off a small number of agents and employees in February and October.

We will update this as we hear from confirmed names and it is very possible that a number of those people who are leaving will find new opportunities, which of course will cover.
