The latest news on America’s No. 1 quarterback, LSU Football Commit Bryce Underwood

Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood is making headlines as rumors swirl around the Michigan Wolverines offering a large NIL package.

Underwood, America’s No. 1 signal-caller, revealed his commitment to the LSU Tigers on Jan. 6, where he made several trips back and forth to Baton Rouge.

Now that the early signing period is getting closer, Michigan has become a hot topic in its recruiting with reports of a $10.5 million package being offered to Underwood.

Where does that leave LSU? Has confidence weakened on the Tigers side?

The latest buzz on Michigan’s push on the NIL front and Underwood’s official visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend:

Michigan Wolverines Discussions:

The Michigan Wolverines remain the program in Underwood’s ear down the stretch.

They’ve proven they’re willing to pull out all the stops until the clock hits zero, and despite continued dialogue between Underwood’s camp and the Wolverines, it doesn’t appear to be enough to sway his commitment.

From NIL packages reported north of $10 million to Underwood’s high school program bringing in former Michigan staffer Connor Stallions as an assistant, it’s been a relentless push from Michigan.

Despite the discussions, all signs point to Underwood wrapping things up with the Tigers in early December after putting pen to paper.

“We’re trying to put money behind the whole situation because whatever his dreams are, we want him to achieve them,” Bryce Underwood’s father said in an interview with On3 Sports over the summer. “The money will come while he’s just living his dreams.”

…I don’t want things to get twisted, money is a big deal. At the same time, man, this is about Bryce being able to turn his dreams into goals. So whatever area he’s in in football, sport, man, I’m great at that as long as he’s happy.

Last weekend, Underwood returned to Baton Rouge for an official visit. This is the only official visit he has taken during his high school career, with the Bayou Bengals bringing him to town.

Has LSU received any clarification on the situation?

LSU’s official visit:

Underwood and his family traveled to Baton Rouge last Saturday to begin their three-day trip to campus.

Upon arriving in town, the five-star signal caller posted on social media that he had arrived in Louisiana and the post took social media by storm.

The red carpet was rolled out from start to finish, with Underwood making sure to soak in the scenes of Death Valley.

He and his family visited the tailgating scene Saturday, took photos with fans and met LSU icons before arriving at the stadium.

After making his rounds with the staff and others, Underwood then headed to Tiger Stadium where he had the opportunity to check in with his LSU 2025 colleagues Harlem Berrry, Kade Phillips, Jhase Thomas and more before being escorted home. tickets for the match.

It was a lopsided loss to Alabama that had social media buzzing about Underwood’s recruitment and whether the loss would alter his plans.

This is not the case.

Underwood and his family enjoyed the atmosphere and love the LSU community gave him, a source told LSU Tigers On SI.

On Sunday, Underwood began wrapping up his trip with meetings with the coaching staff, a photo session at Tiger Stadium and dinner before leaving Monday morning.

Overall, it was a beneficial visit for Camp Underwood.

The family had the opportunity to see what LSU is all about again while receiving a game plan for the signal-caller’s future.

The general feeling remains that Underwood will take pen with the LSU Tigers during the early signing period before early registration.

“I think he’s going to stay in the class for LSU,” On3 Sports recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong said Monday. “He always had a lot of love for the Tigers. He loves the environment, the atmosphere around the program, the way they develop quarterbacks and certainly the stage they play on. He had the chance to bypass all those commitments again – like five-star Harlem Berry – by rubbing shoulders with the staff, and he brought his whole family. They like the way they are received in Death Valley.

“Yes, there are conversations with Sherrone Moore and representatives of the Michigan football program. But it has always been an uphill battle for the Wolverines. This visit reminded him of everything he loves about LSU and his potential in the program. And I like that he stays with the Tigers.

All signs point to Underwood putting pen to paper during the early signing period with the LSU Tigers despite an aggressive NIL offer from the Michigan Wolverines down the stretch.
