Be prepared for high fire danger in northeastern Pennsylvania through Saturday evening

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:35 p.m. Friday for high fire danger through 7 p.m. Saturday for southern Wayne as well as Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Pike counties.

“Northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph, low relative humidity of 30 to 40 percent and dry fuels will promote rapid spread of wildfires if fires were to ignite. Any burning in the “Outdoors is strongly discouraged. Be extremely careful if you handle potential sources of ignition, such as machines or matches, and be sure to extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts,” says the meteorological service.

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
