The model change begins Saturday evening

A cold front moves through the area Saturday evening. Due to a limited amount of moisture in the atmosphere ahead of the front, the chance of rain will be very limited. An isolated shower or thunderstorm could develop along the front as it passes Saturday evening, but many areas remain dry. Lows fall into the mid 40s. We are cloudy Sunday as highs reach the mid 50s and remain cloudy Sunday evening as lows fall into the mid to upper 30s.

Rather dry this weekend. Risk of rain or isolated thunderstorms Saturday evening.

Your first alert: active weather, risk of the first snowflakes appearing next week

We are still monitoring a fairly complex weather pattern next week. At this point, we expect our next chance of rain to arrive on Monday as a storm system moves across the Plains and into Iowa. This risk of rain persists Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Temperatures remain above freezing during this period, with highs between 50 and 50°C Monday and Tuesday. Lows Monday night will be in the mid 40s. Windy conditions are expected Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures begin to drop. Tuesday night’s lows will be in the mid 30s and Wednesday’s highs will be in the mid 40s. By the end of next week, highs could struggle to reach 40 degrees while temperatures Lows would fall into the 30s. As this colder air arrives, we are watching for the possibility of a second storm system coming in from the southwest, bringing another surge of moisture that mixes with the cold air. If that happens, we could see our first snowflakes falling around the middle to end of next week, either as flurries or a mix of rain and snow. However, it will still take several days for the forecast to evolve and change. We will keep you updated with the latest information as this forecast becomes clearer in the coming days. In the meantime, consider this your first alert that we may receive our first snowflakes next week.
