Washington Commanders Nominee Announced for 2024 Salute to Service Award

Ashburn, Virginia. — Each year, all 32 NFL organizations, including the Washington Commanders nominate a member for the Salute to Service Award, an award presented by the NFL and USAA to recognize efforts to support and honor the military and veteran communities.

Previous nominees for the Commanders Among them is former coach Ron Rivera, whose ties to the military community date back to his days as an “Army Brat” while his father was in the U.S. Army.

This year’s candidate for Washington is a player known and appreciated for his passion, dedication and for giving maximum effort in everything he does. Safety Jeremy Reaves.

“We rely a lot on the military and some of their influence because I just feel like they did better than anyone else as a team,” and so we get a chance to recognize the people who support our military and our team. Good teammates make great teams, and Jeremy Reaves is a great teammate and so we are all very excited that he is our nominee for the Salute to Service award because yes, he is everything you would want in a teammate and it That’s why I thought it was so significant today.”

Reaves also has ties to the military through his family, as noted in his candidate bio during the league’s announcement prior to the Commanders’ Week 9 win over the New York Giants.

“Over the past six seasons, the 2022 Pro Bowler has embodied the proponents of the NFL Salute to Service initiative,” the biography reads. “He honors his parents’ legacy of service by consistently going above and beyond the expectations of those currently serving. Through countless base visits in the Washington DC area, Maryland and Virginia, he regularly puts relating our armed forces and their families with the greater family of commanders Jeremy’s tenacity and relentlessness in the field are undoubtedly a by-product of his upbringing in a military home… He has made several visits. at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland During these visits, Jeremy could be found kneeling with our wounded, sick and wounded, offering heartfelt gratitude for their service and sacrifice during the season. Jeremy’s 2023 season was cut short after a season-ending knee injury. His drive and resilience led him to come back stronger than ever for the 2024 season. His mother served in the United States Air Force and his father. served in the United States Army.

Reaves has certainly proven that he deserves to be recognized for his spirit and unwavering approach to life and football. And he’s a more than deserving candidate for this year’s Salute to Service award.
