Black Ops 6 Season 1 is just around the corner, as new multiplayer maps, game modes, and core features join the mix just weeks after launch. From the release date to a look at all the new content coming, here’s the full rundown.

While Black Ops 6 just went live on October 25th, as a live game we’re already heading into the busy first seasonal update. The work never stops and with Season 1 on the horizon, players have a lot to look forward to.

New maps at the top of the bill, but there is also new game modes accompanying the implementation of a Ranked playlist. As always, a full-fledged Battle Pass is also coming, along with many other cosmetic packs that are expected to appear in the store.

So before it all begins, here is the complete recap to get you up to speed on Black Ops 6 Season 1.

Black Ops 6 Roadmap

Season 1 kicks off a big year for CoD in the Black Ops 6 era.

Black Ops 6 Season 1 Release Date

Black Ops 6 Season 1 is scheduled to begin on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

This comes just three weeks after the launch of the new CoD installment, meaning fans don’t have long to wait for new content. This also follows in line with previous years, with Season 1 updates historically marking the true “beginning” of live support.

Ranked Play Coming to Season 1

Treyarch confirmed that ranked play would arrive “at the start of Season 1.” The developers announced the early launch of this year’s competitive mode during the CoD Next 2024 event.

At the time of writing, there are no further details on how ranked play will work in Black Ops 6, although we can obviously expect a similar structure to previous years. There will undoubtedly be a set of leaderboards for players to navigate, progressing through the tiers with good performances and match wins.

As of now, it’s unclear whether ranked play will begin with an early beta period, giving players a few weeks to test things out first, or whether Season 1 will immediately kick things off with the full-fledged ranked experience.

Check back soon as we’re sure to receive specific details in the coming days as Season 1 approaches.

New multiplayer maps

Three new main multiplayer maps are on the way as part of the Season 1 update. That means proper 6v6-style maps for regular playlists. We got our first glimpse of the new arrivals in a November 4 Trailer.

Extraction first appears as a sunny coastal map suspended above the water. Akin to a mid-sized development, the location features a mix of wide open spaces and buildings to run wild in.

Then we have Legacyan indoor map set in a sort of art gallery. Expect plenty of close-range shootouts on this map, with plenty of tight turns and corridors to slide through.

Heirloom Card in Black Ops 6

To complete the trio of new cards, Hideouta cliffside map featuring a three-lane layout. The left and right take players outside with various containers and smaller obstacles to clear, while the central path leads inside a makeshift military hangar.

All three maps are expected to join the rotation of all major multiplayer playlists as soon as Season 1 launches.

New game modes

We also know that new game modes are on the way as part of the Season 1 update, but exactly which modes remain to be seen.

A comment from a developer on the Call of Duty Podcast This implies that a “party mode” is among those on the way, meaning we could see anything from One In The Chamber to Gun Game. We’ll just have to wait and see what Treyarch has in store for us for the first major content release.

Season 1 Battle Pass

While we know the Season 1 Battle Pass will be available immediately on November 14, we haven’t yet seen what’s included. It’s not clear what the cosmetic theme will be, or what new operator skins might be included.

As usual, fans can expect progress to trickle down to all major pillars, meaning you can earn Battle Pass experience in Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone.

Black Ops 6 Vault Edition Operators

We know we’re expecting plenty of dazzling new Operator skins with the Season 1 Battle Pass.

That’s all we know about what’s coming on the multiplayer side with Black Ops 6 Season 1, even if it’s far from the full update.

Let it be the much awaited Warzone integration Or new changes for zombies around the corner, there are many more things to look forward to.
