Mobile police obtain court order to identify 14-year-old wanted in boy’s murder

A 14-year-old boy is wanted by the mobile police in connection with a deadly shooting late last month which left a boy dead, authorities announced Tuesday evening.

Miquael Jackson is wanted in connection with the Oct. 31 homicide on Arcturus Lane, Mobile police said.

The homicide victim has only been publicly identified as a juvenile.

An Alabama state law passed in 2021 states that public records such as “photographs, likenesses, and personally identifying information” contained in law enforcement records of any person who is a Juvenile and unconvicted defendants — even if charged as adults — cannot be published.

Mobile Police stated that “due to the urgent circumstances surrounding the attempt to locate a third subject, we have received a court order authorizing us to release the name and photo of this juvenile to the media.”

“This is a matter of public safety and we ask that you share this information with your public,” a police statement said.

“Our homicide investigators have worked diligently on this case since day one and I am proud of their commitment to ensuring justice is served,” said Police Chief William Jackson. “While I commend the work done to make these arrests, this should in no way overshadow the lives lost that night.

“This case is particularly difficult to handle given that a young person lost his life during such a violent act and that those responsible for this crime are minors,” continued the chief. “It’s another reminder that our work is not done. Parents, I invite you to talk about it with your children. Violence is never the solution, and I assure you that regardless of the age of those responsible for such acts, you will be arrested and charged accordingly.

On Friday, two suspects – a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy – were located and arrested.

Jackson remains at large.

Anyone found harboring the teenage suspect could face charges, Mobile police said.

Those with information on the boy’s whereabouts were asked to call Mobile Police at 251-208-7211. Tipsters can also submit information anonymously by texting 844-251-0644 or visiting http://mobilepd.org/crimetip.
