Mike McCarthy thinks if the Cowboys keep ‘hitting,’ good things will happen

THE Dallas Cowboys didn’t become 3-7 overnight. It took poor execution, injuries and just being outplayed every week. The fan base has become venomous about his outlook on this season, and they have every right to be.

Monday night’s loss to the Houston Texans was just another game in which the Cowboys were beaten before the game even started. What makes it worse? Head coach Mike McCarthy can’t determine how the season got to this point.

Jon Machota of The Athletic I listened closely to the words McCarthy had to say after the Cowboys’ prime-time loss.

“Our problem is not effort. It’s never during the week. I didn’t see that. We don’t do critical games. I’m disappointed. I’m frustrated for our guys because I know how much they’ve invested in this. We just have to keep fighting here,” McCarthy told reporters.

Doesn’t making critical plays mean failing a fake punt inside the opponent’s 35 in the first quarter? If that’s the case, then this team is definitely missing critical plays. The fake punt showed me one thing: This team is desperate for a spark, but there seems to be no end in sight.
