Georgia Tech vs Miami was one of the most watched games of Week 11

In one of the biggest upsets of the year, Georgia Tech beat Miami 9-0 at home and ended its undefeated season. While Bobby Dodd Stadium had a lot of people watching the game in Atlanta, there were a lot of people watching the game all over the country. ESPN released viewership numbers from last weekend and Georgia Tech’s upset of Miami was one of the most-watched games in the entire country.

While speaking with the media today, Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key explained what winning means for the program:

“I mean, all wins are good wins. We said we know that, but the exposure that the program has been able to receive this year a few times with the things that these kids have done, it just increases the positive light. People see the program and the most important thing in all of that is the recruiting aspect, being able to have people really present in a national and sometimes global market, being able to see the program in such a positive light, see. the support from the fans, seeing the program the way the fans came out, the students showed up and the energy that was in the stadium and then the way our guys are playing, it’s a fun group of guys to be in. watching play, they’re back to how we want to continue to build the program and obviously that’s through recruiting, that’s our lifeline, and that’s where we need to continue to build depth. of a program and developing quality players in the program who are not only good. football players, but they are good people. »

The Yellow Jackets are off this Saturday, but will play their final home game of the season next Thursday against NC State, a team Key has a lot of respect for:

“Yeah, they’re a good football team, you know, they’ve had their ups and downs throughout the season. Dave Doeren is a great football coach. He’s someone I respect a lot in this league, I respect in the college football world he was good to me as far as being a new coach in the league and whether it was different events or different things he showed me a little bit of how he does it. has been really good me in that way, but there’s such a mutual respect and respect for the way he’s built his football program over the last, you know, what is it. , 10 years or not, so many people can say, you know, eight winning seasons, you? You know, the player development in this program, you know, he really believes in being a developmental program. and building guys from the high school ranks and developing those guys, you know, they play physical and hard on the line. from scrimmage, you know, they’re going to be, you know, it’s a different defensive front than we’ve seen lately. And the quarterback plays good football, so very similar in a lot of ways, in terms of a program, in terms of the identity of a program. So it’s going to be a big challenge for us.”
