Chargers are one of 7 teams to skip trades this season

Los Angeles Chargers Head coach Jim Harbaugh and new general manager Joe Hortiz have a plan and it just didn’t include the NFL trade deadline — or anything else.

While this shouldn’t bother Chargers fans too much given how good the roster turnover was in the first year of the Harbaugh experiment, it’s still noteworthy.

As Nick Korte Over the Cap pointed out, the Chargers were just one of seven teams this season to skip in-season trades before the deadline:

•Dolphins

• Colts

• Chargers

•Eagles

• Giants

•Hawks

•Bucks

Of course, that doesn’t mean Hortiz and the Chargers won’t make a move if the right one comes along. For example, the end of August trade with the Tennessee Titans to acquire Elijah Moldenwhich was a breakthrough for the defense this year.

But Harbaugh and Hortiz didn’t seem to see anything they liked at this year’s deadline.

“I didn’t see, and I don’t think Joe saw, where we needed a player at any position,” Harbaugh said, according to Eric Smith and Omar Navarro of Chargers.com. “We like the guys and we feel good about every position group.”

The trades also need to be priced right, although Harbaugh isn’t going to address that aspect at a podium.

Given how the revamped front office has crafted the roster thus far, the Chargers have likely earned the benefit of the doubt for being one of the only teams to miss the deadline.
