Two men have been charged after police discovered a 3D printed gun in a car in Christchurch.

Officers saw a car stolen from a fast food restaurant on Ferry Road on Thursday at 7:50 p.m., and the firearm was found while police were searching the car.

A 20-year-old gang member and a 17-year-old associate were each charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police said.

The 20-year-old is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court today, while the 17-year-old will appear in the Youth Court.
