Michigan football battled back from a two-touchdown halftime deficit, but the second-half comeback wasn’t enough against Undefeated No. 10 Indiana.

Michigan fell to Indiana, 20-15, on Saturday to fall to .500 at 5-5 with two games remaining. THE Wolverines have lost twice in a row after falling to #1 in Oregon last week. Indiana is now 10-0 for the first time in program history to maintain a strong chance of reaching the Big Ten championship game.

Michigan started the game with a field goal, but Indiana dominated the first half after that. Kurtis Rourke connected on two touchdown passes to Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper Jr. and turned an Alex Orji fumble into a field goal. Michigan had just 94 yards in the first half and quarterback Davis Warren completed 7 of 18 passes after completing five of six on the first drive.

Zeke Berry started the second half with an interception deep in Indiana territory, leading to a second Dominic Zvada field goal. On the next possession, Zvada tied his career high by kicking a 56-yard field goal to cut the deficit to eight. Michigan scored its first touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a Kalel Mullings run, but the two-point conversion failed to maintain Indiana’s slim lead. Indiana added a field goal in the final three minutes and got one last defensive stop to secure the victory.

Michigan has lost four of its last five games, with the only win coming against Michigan State, and must win one of its last two games to advance to a bowl game. Michigan is now 58-11 against Hoosiers and ended a three-fight winning streak.

Michigan vs. Indiana Live Updates, Game Highlights

The Wolverines couldn’t move the ball down the field and gave it back to Indiana after only picking up a first down. Davis Warren missed passes on first, second and third downs and found Payton O’Leary on fourth and 10, but gained only nine yards. Michigan still has three timeouts, which leaves a slim chance of recovering the ball.

Indiana extended its lead to five points with a 41-yard field goal after a nice punt return put the Hoosiers in Michigan territory. Indiana scored a first down, but Elijah Sarratt dropped a fadeaway near the goal line that would have allowed the Hoosiers to burn down the clock and potentially take a two-point lead.

Michigan will start the drive from its own 20. The Wolverines have all three timeouts and the two-minute warning.

Michigan has . The Wolverines forced another Indiana three-and-out after two sacks by TJ Guy, and the Hoosiers’ punt traveled just 26 yards, giving Michigan the ball at IU’s 34. Donovan Edwards carried Michigan inside the 10-yard line, aided by a personal foul against Indiana, before passing to Mullings to put it back with two scores on third and fourth. Michigan went through the air to try to tie the game on a two-point conversion, but Davis Warren was nearly intercepted.

Michigan got another stop on defense, this time a punt, and got back into Indiana territory just far enough to reach Zvada, who had enough leg to make his career-long field goal and the third of the match. The 12-play drive went for just 44 yards, with most of it coming from Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards on the ground.

Michigan ran it three straight times after the turnover and only picked up four yards and had two runs for no gain. Instead of trying to attempt the kick from the Indiana 3-yard line to try to make it a one-score game, Michigan settled for a 22-yard Dominic Zvada field goal to cut the lead deficit at 11.

Michigan’s defense made the first big play of the second half. The Wolverines had to punt on the opening possession after a first down, but pinned Indiana at its own 4-yard line with the punt. On Indiana’s first play, Kurtis Rourke attempted to throw a short snap, but Berry jumped the route for an interception at the Indiana 7-yard line.

Michigan’s defense was able to mitigate the damage after the fumble and hold Indiana to a 40-yard field goal. Indiana seemingly reached the goal line after a pass over the middle from Myles Price, but offsetting penalties erased the 13-yard gain to the 2-yard line, and Indiana ultimately had to settle for a field goal .

Michigan is in danger of falling into a huge hole. After quarterback Davis Warren ended a six-game incompletions streak to pick up a first down, the Wolverines replaced Alex Orji on the next snap and he was leveled in a QB guard’s hole and fumbled . Indiana got it back at the Michigan 33 with a chance to extend the lead. Head coach Sherrone Moore disputed the call, but video review quickly confirmed it.

Michigan returned it to Indiana after the touchdown and the Hoosiers struck again. Kurtis Rourke stood tall in the pocket and absorbed a Mason Graham hit to deliver a deep ball to Sarratt, who beat Jyaire Hill to the outside with a double move. Justice Ellison picked up a first down on the ground and Rourke completed two short passes before airing it out deep.

The Hoosiers shook off the cobwebs and drove 75 yards in seven plays to find the end zone and take the lead. Indiana started the drive on the ground, but Kurtis Rourke then found Ke’Shawn Williams on consecutive plays, including a 26-yard gain on a foot catch down the sideline to reach the red zone. Three plays later, Rourke hit Omar Cooper Jr. on a fade and he picked off Zeke Berry for the touchdown.

The first ten minutes were all Michigan.

Indiana got the ball first and had to punt after a first down. Michigan put together a 14-play, 66-yard drive and got inside the Indiana 5-yard line, but a Davis Warren fumble on third-and-goal forced the Wolverines to settle for a field goal of 39 yards. Warren completed five of six passes for 64 yards on the drive, starting with two first downs to Colston Loveland and hitting Tyler Morris and Fredrick Moore for 16-yard gains.

Star cornerback Will Johnson out for third straight game with a foot injury while compatriot Jyaire Hill is listed as questionable.

The other Wolverines listed as out are wide receiver Amorion Walker, safety Jaden Mangham, linebacker Micah Pollard, safety Rod Moore, linebacker Christian Boivan, tackle Jeff Persi and tight end Hogan Hansen.

Indiana left guard Drew Evans suffered a season-ending injury.

Michigan vs. Indiana Pregame Notes

Last week’s loss to Oregon once again highlighted Michigan’s flaws on offense, while the Ducks were hyper-efficient on offense in the first half to pull out a comfortable victory. The Wolverines are sticking with quarterback Davis Warren and will look to start the game against Indiana’s talented defensive line.

Even if their main goals are out of reach now Michigan is playing for pride and to act as a spoiler for Indiana and Ohio State’s playoff hopes and get to a bowl game. Also, players try to improve their draft stock.

This will be another tough game for Michigan’s anemic offense. Indiana ranks seventh in the nation in scoring defense, holding teams to 13.67 points per game, and third in total defense, allowing 261 yards per game.

The defense laid the foundation, but Indiana’s offense was solid with sixth-year senior and Ohio transfer Kurtis Rourke under center. Michigan High School Was Destroyed Last Week without Will Johnson and Jyaire Hill, and Johnson remains out for this game.

Michigan vs. Indiana Prediction, Picks

Tony Garcia, Detroit Free Press: If the front of the jersey said “USC” instead, this team would be ranked in the top five. Cignetti doesn’t mind running, Rourke is a veteran quarterback making his 43rd start and the Hoosiers defense loves to ruin a quarterback’s afternoon (just ask MSU’s Aidan Chiles). Maybe UM stays close early, but more likely, there’s an outcome that seems inevitable. The selection: Indiana 34, UM 17.
