Salesforce system glitch hits Japanese municipalities and financial institutions

American cloud software company Salesforce announced the partial resumption of its services after an issue affected the systems of some Japanese municipalities and financial institutions.

The company said it became aware of the disruption around 3 p.m. Friday Japan time.

The problem affected the disaster information systems of Ehime and Oita prefectures, preventing evacuation information from being sent automatically and access to the website.

Online card loan application services were also disrupted at some financial institutions.

Salesforce says it confirmed around 12:20 a.m. Saturday that basic services had been restored.

It says it will investigate the cause of the problem while trying to restore remaining services.

The company posted a comment on its website apologizing for the incident.
