VAN BUREN CO., Ark. (KATV) — Van Buren County Judge Dale James said law enforcement was searching for a possible plane wreck in the northern part of the county.

Around 2 p.m., Van Buren County Dispatch received a report that a small plane was having engine problems. While trying to make contact with the plane, they received a few signals in a general area, but no response from the plane.

The plane was heading from Fayetteville to Mississippi with only the pilot aboard the 6-passenger plane.

Forestry on a private plane is assisting Van Buren County Rescue with the search. They also use a drone to conduct searches, as the area is rural and difficult.

A possible wreck was spotted off Wright’s Lane in northern Van Buren County near the Stone County line.

The wreck has not been officially confirmed and this story will be updated as we learn more.
