Growing up, you may have dreamed of your own treehouse to have fun with your friends and pretend you were part of the Swiss Robinson family.

But one Reddit user has taken these childhood fantasies and turned them into reality, creating a treehouse behind their house that they intend to turn into an office.

On the r/TinyHouses subreddit, they detailed that the treehouse is 120 square feet and has a kitchenette, a queen bed in a loft space, and will soon have a shower and composting toilet.

They also noted that because it meets the shed and patio requirements of where they live, they did not need to obtain a permit for construction. A slow-charging battery will provide power, while water will come from a “RV/Van Life Source”.

Another option for providing electricity could be invest in solar panels. THE technology collects sunlight and then sends it to an inverter, where it is converted into usable electricity. As well as enjoying free energy, this means you don’t need to access grid electricity, which can be a planning and bureaucratic nightmare. Additionally, the electricity grid still relies heavily on dirty fuels, which will allow you to reduce your personal production of pollutants.

Although this treehouse project may not seem like a full-time home, live in a small house can be extremely rewarding and planet-friendly. With minimal space, you have to be ruthless about what items you can buy and keep, which means you don’t participate in consumerism as much as you would in a standard-sized home. This means you are not spending money unnecessarily and can ensure you are not wasting resources or contributing as much to landfills producing methane.

But most importantly, this treehouse looks like a lot of fun and is a great place to get away from it all. The editors were also impressed.
