The Bloody Thousand Year War Just Gave Uryu a Whole New Original Form from the Anime

Bleach: Bloody Thousand Year War promised that the anime would feature new material which never made it into the original version of the final arc of Tite Kubo’s original manga, and the latest episode managed to do so by giving Uryu Ishida a whole new form who just debuted in the anime. The beauty of retrospection with Bleach: Bloody Thousand Year War is that the anime is allowed to finally adapt the final arc of the Bleach manga with the knowledge of what worked and what didn’t the first time. Kubo was involved in the production of the new anime and has since added new material to better flesh it out.

Ahead of Bleach: Bloody Thousand Year War Part 3 – The ConflictWhen it debuted this fall, behind the scenes of the anime announced that there would be even more new forms, powers and fights never before seen in Kubo’s manga. This was fully realized with the final episode of the anime, as Ichigo Kurosaki and Uryu not only had a fight that wasn’t in the manga before, but Uryu even triggered his full power-up version of the Vollstandig form of Quincy which had never been seen in the original series. So this is brand new for the anime and the franchise in general.

Bleach: Uryu’s Quincy Vollstandig explained

Bleach: Bloody Thousand Year War Episode 30 continues Yhwach’s attempt to completely kill the Soul Kingbut Captain Ukitake’s attempt to hold the Soul King down with Mimihagi slowed the process. Ichigo attempts to intervene and stop Yhwach, but Uryu quickly gets into the mix. It is here that he and Ichigo begin a new fight, and Ichigo can still tell that Uryu is probably holding back despite the fact that him being a Quincy means he is an enemy of the Soul Reapers.

But Ichigo’s words fail to connect, as Uryu’s power is only revealed more through combat. Having previously been teased when he used Antithesis for the first time against Squad Zero member Senjumaru.Uryu pulls out a full pair of wings with his Vollstandig. It hasn’t been fully named yet, but its design seems to emphasize the types of straight, piercing arrows that Uryu has been shooting all this time. It’s such a power compared to his previous form that Ichigo loses it quite quickly after Uryu first activates it in the realm.

How strong is Uryu’s new form?

This was the form Uryu fought against before, and this could be a reason why he is so closely related to Yhwach. It is clear that the villain’s power controls all of Quincy (even going as far as have control of the blood inside Ichigo’s body), and Uryu could have joined their side as a result of this. Still, it’s kind of hard to tell at the moment, because he clearly wasn’t holding back at all as he and Ichigo came to blows. He even took out Ichigo himself.

His new form has made him so powerful that he quickly pierces Ichigo with a massive hole in his body before the episode ends, and it’s likely he’ll do even more damage before his true goal is revealed . Coupled with his new Antithesis power which reflects all damage he takes back at his opponent, Uryu might currently have one of the most powerful power sets in action right now. This means that fans now have to keep an eye on Uryu more closely than ever as these final fights of the arc continue.
