Many of us have thousands of photos and videos on our phones and that can be both a blessing and a curse. Besides having a lot of mediocre shots that, deep down, should have been deleted long ago, having a lot of media can make reviewing them a daunting task, especially if you decide to scroll through them manually.

Although you can be mega-organized and create albums or at least learn how to easily find different types of images Using the new categories introduced in iOS 18.1, most of us will end up using the search engine. This has proven largely effective over the years, but it has not been without its flaws. With iOS 18.1, however, things have changed.

iOS 18.1 brings useful features such as summarize audio notes and transcriptions of telephone calls, sending Smart responses and the long awaited cleaning tool, Apple’s answer to the magic eraser. And finding moments in videos using Apple Intelligence is a game-changer. So let’s see how it works.

In the search engine, simply describe a moment that occurs in one of your natural language videos. All photos and videos matching your description will appear as you type, often before you’ve even finished typing. You can also press Search.

3. Find the video

If Apple Intelligence detects a match in one of your videos, it will display: tap the video result and that will take you to your moment.

4. Experiment with words

If you find that you aren’t getting the results you expected, it’s probably due to one of three reasons: A video matching this description doesn’t exist, Apple Intelligence doesn’t understand (sometimes being too specific won’t work not). — it may, for example, not know the exact name of a dinosaur) or Apple Intelligence has not yet finished indexing your library.

The answer is to play – sometimes it works if you make a slightly less precise request. You must also be patient. Indexing takes place when your iPhone is locked and connected to Wi-Fi.
