Solar power plants; Trade-in notices not related to the Surya Ghar program: Company

The Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) has clarified that the resumption notices issued by the real estate office for not installing rooftop solar plants are in no way linked to Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yajana of the Center.

In a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), RTI activist RK Garg said the UT administration had recently issued notices regarding repossession of properties from the general public, who will not opt for the installation of solar panels on his property in the next 60 years. days. “Coercive measures are being taken to harass people in the name of Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna,” he said.

As per the UT notification dated May 18, 2016, installation of solar power plant is mandatory for all residential houses of 500 square meters or more in the city. “The UT Real Estate Office has issued notices to the owners who have not followed the guidelines mentioned in the notification and hence have violated rule 4.1 of the Chandigarh Building Rules, 2017. These notices have in no way no connection with Prime Minister Surya Ghar’s project,” says CREST Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He said the Central project was launched on February 13 to increase the share of rooftop solar capacity and enable residential households to generate their own electricity.

Linking these notices, which are issued for violation of Chandigarh Building Rules 2017, to the government’s public welfare scheme is in no way correct or justified, he said. “These notices sent by the real estate office relate to violation of building rules and not the PM Surya Ghar Yajna project,” he reiterated.
