A Democratic congressman from Florida said police arrested a suspect who was allegedly armed and put him on a hit list near his home the day before the election.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz said in a statement released Friday that the suspect is “a former felon who was in possession of a rifle, a suppressor and a bulletproof vest.”

“A manifesto was found with him which, among other things, contained anti-Semitic remarks and only my name on the ‘target’ list,” Moskowitz said, adding that there were other details he did not want. not disclose due to the ongoing investigation.

The Margate Police Department, which Moskowitz said informed him of the arrest, did not immediately respond to messages for comment on the case.

Moskowitz said he was part of the House task force investigating the attempted assassination of President-elect Donald Trump.

“I understand the failures and the importance of ensuring the protection of our current and future Commander-in-Chief and Vice President. At the same time, I am deeply concerned about the security of Members of Congress and its glaring lack when we are in the district regardless of our political affiliations or differences, we all have families we want to keep safe,” he said.
