(MENAFN) The situation in northern Israel has seen a marked escalation of hostilities, with the Israeli military reporting the detection of 115 rocket attacks on Monday. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, several of these rockets were intercepted before they could reach the city of Safed. At the same time, Hezbollah claimed to have caused significant losses to the Israeli armed forces, claiming that 90 military have been killed since the start of the ongoing ground offensive.

Reports in Hebrew media reported that interceptions took place in several locations, including Rosh Bina, Kfar Bloom and the surrounding area of ​​Safed, where residents suffered a series of loud explosions. In light of the rocket threats, Israel’s home front issued alerts, causing sirens to sound throughout Safed and neighboring areas to warn civilians of the impending danger.

The Israeli army confirmed that it spotted five rockets fired from Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee. While some of these rockets were successfully intercepted, others fell in open fields, without causing immediate casualties or damage. Hezbollah took responsibility for rocket attacks targeting Israeli troops, highlighting strikes against soldiers stationed in the Kiryat Shmona settlement and additional assaults on a gathering of soldiers in Rosh Pina.

During the previous day’s skirmishes, the Israeli army reported that seven officers and soldiers were injured during clashes in southern Lebanon. In response to continued rocket threats, the Israeli military made the tactical decision to remove sections of previously established defensive walls in northern Israel, intended to protect against anti-tank missiles.
