Savannah Guthrie Shocks Today’s Viewers by Appearing Early with Hoda Kotb After Covering the Election: ‘How Are You Still Awake?’

Viewers were stunned to see Savannah Guthrie at the NBC office this morning after the Today Show the host covered the 2024 presidential election around the clock until late yesterday evening.

Guthrie, who led the charge during NBC’s election coverage last night with Lester Holt, got up early this morning at Hoda Kotbon the side when Today’s show began broadcasting at 8 a.m. ET.

“If you’re just waking up, a long election night stretches into the morning,” she told viewers, before adding, “I have three cups of coffee waiting here.”

Guthrie was on air last night from 6:30 p.m. ET until late night, after hosting Today’s show yesterday morning as well.

“The race is still too close to call on some of these battlegrounds in West Michigan,” she said. “But the main thing is clear as day. Donald Trump is president-elect again, the 45th president ready to return to the White House.”

Viewers at home were impressed by Guthrie’s commitment. But some were also worried.

“I wake up, I see @SavannahGuthrie on TV… I come home from work, she’s on TV. I wake up today, she’s STILL on TV. Did she sleep!? a spectator wrote on X.

“The amount of caffeine that must be injected into Savannah Guthrie’s body is probably alarming. This girl has been killing it on TV for the past 24 hours. “Toast him my coffee,” another fan wrote.

Another commented“I don’t know how you do it…no sleep?” You look fresh as a daisy…keep up the good work! »

Guthrie seemed optimistic on Election Day before his night on the air. She shared a photo of the encouraging note her daughter wrote her before the show, which read: “You got this! You worked so hard!

She also wrote that she was going to be on NBC “all night” in a social media post which showed Rockefeller Center. “Always so proud to walk into @nbcnews on election night,” she wrote.

But Guthrie seemed somber as she and Kotb reported on the election results.

NBC’s election coverage will continue throughout the day as the network plans to broadcast at least 24 consecutive hours of election programming.

The network already preempted Today with Hoda and Jenna Wednesday morning, while Late Night with Seth Meyers And Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon were also preempted Tuesday evening.
