As Georgia election officials battle misinformation during early voting, Gabriel Sterling, director of operations for the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, is also urging voters to moderate their expectations of their preferred candidates in the election. Election day approaches.

“As we approach Election Day, I have a message for supporters of both candidates. Particularly their most vocal supporters,” he wrote in a five-part post on. “Your candidate could lose.”

Sterling, a Republican who infamously called Then-President Donald Trump must ‘stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence’ after the 2020 presidential election, also calls for collective calm.

“This is a close race. You need to prepare yourself emotionally and mentally for this possible outcome,” he wrote.

His message was addressed to both parties.

“I’ve been voting in presidential elections since 1992. I’ve voted for the winner 3 times. Only once was my Primary choice elected to the White House. That’s how it goes. You need to be prepared , supporters of Vice President Harris, President Trump could win I know this freaks you out,” he wrote.

“And for my friends who support President Trump, there’s an equally good chance that Vice President Harris will win. It comes down to 7 states. And even then, a handful of thousands of votes in those states. .. just like it was in “16 and 20,” he added.

Sterling also gave his opinion on the balance of power in Congress.

“At the same time, there is a much greater chance than even that the Republican Party will take control of the Senate and lose control of the House. The good part… for Harris and Trump supporters, you can come back and fight at the federal level in 2 years,” he wrote. “And you have a chance to fight for your values as president in 4 years (well, 2.5 years including the primaries).”

Sterling spoke of elections as the highest form of patriotism, ending his message on a positive note.

“The American Republic has endured for over 200 years. We will overcome this election, whatever the outcome. I’m not saying it will be easy. But it is a reality,” he wrote.

As of Friday, more than half of all eligible registered voters in Georgia had already cast their ballots.
