Kesha revives her iconic trash bag dress after 14 years

Kesha‘s latest red carpet look is trashy in the best way possible.

The “TiK ToK” singer, 37, wore a revised version of one of her early career looks — her trash bag dress from the 2010 MTV VMAs — to CHARM Germany‘s Women of the Year Awards on Tuesday, November 12, and stopped in the middle of the carpet for a change of spikes.

Kesha hit the red carpet at the Fotografiska Berlin event – where she was dubbed Music Icon 2024 – in a black two-piece ensemble that appeared to be made from trash bags, evoking her iconic award ceremony look prices from more than ten years ago.

Rather than a trash bag-inspired minidress, Kesha’s updated look included a strapless, backless top with a scalloped hem, as well as a matching maxi skirt with ultra-high slits and a long train.

At first, she paired the head-turning ensemble with pointy black heels — one of which had a phone mounted on a miniature tripod — and later swapped them out for a slightly bolder pair.

The “Die Young” singer stopped posing midway on the carpet to, with the help of two people, change into a pair of strappy heeled sandals, also black, adorned with chunky spikes.

Unlike her trashy-inspired look from 2010 — which featured her hair in a very high, long pouf ponytail-braid hybrid style — she sported a simple hairstyle, her shoulder-length blonde tresses falling into a sleek center part.

Speaking of the unconventional and closed “loop” in CHARM Germany event – where she was celebrated alongside other 2024 winners Ashley Park, Valentina Sampaio and journalist Düzen Tekkal — Kesha said it was the product of examining her career to determine how she “became so iconic” over the years.

“I’m iconic. It’s iconic. And I looked at how I became so iconic and it was by creating art out of trash,” she said, according to the magazine. “So I’m the iconic trash can.”

Kesha’s big night out in Berlin follows – pun intended – a string of several big outings for the star this year.

Last month, the singer joined Charli XCX on stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles for the first live performance of the duo’s remix of “Spring Breakers”, a few days after the release of the singer’s remix album “Apple”, Brat and it’s completely different but also still kid.

The Oct. 15 concert also included a performance of Kesha’s 2009 hit track, “Tik Tok,” with Charli’s Sweat Tour co-headliner Troye Sivan.

The same day, Kesha released a cover of Lindsey Buckingham’s “Holiday Road” for the Spotify Singles 2024 holiday collection. The singer’s version of the 1983 holiday hit features a vocoder effect and electro-rock production from Zhone, who also worked on her song “Joyride.”
