Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast on Thursday, in a three-hour-long interview in which he suggested that he and Trump could win the “normal gay vote” – a comment that was criticized by some. members of the LGBT community on social networks.

The two discussed transgender medical treatments, as well as abortion, the Covid vaccine, Muslim Americans and Vance’s Netflix choices.

Vance argued at one point that wealthy parents accepted their children’s transgender or non-binary identities as a way to “reject your white privilege.”

“One way for these people to participate in the DEI bureaucracy in this country is to be trans,” Vance said, referring to diversity, equity and inclusion policies.

Vance has also criticized the Covid-19 vaccine, despite having received one himself.

“The sickest time I’ve had in the last 15 years, by far, was when I took the vaccine,” he said.

Of the attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, Vance said he went into “fight or flight mode” after learning Trump was targeted.

“We were at a mini golf course in Cincinnati, Ohio,” Vance said. He added that he had to round up his children, “throw them in the car, go home and load all my guns, and stand like a sentry at our front door.”

Trump himself appeared on Rogan’s podcast in a three-hour episode that aired five days ago.

Rogan, whose podcast has more than 18 million subscribers on YouTube, said he also invited Kamala Harris on his show, but added that he rejected conditions laid out in his campaign, including a limit of one hour for the interview.
