Man wanted for dragging two dogs tied to bumper in Georgia

Authorities in Georgia are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who dragged two tethered dogs into the back of a car, killing one of them.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect dragged the two animals along a roadway in Redan, just east of Atlanta, around 8 p.m. on September 13, the DeKalb County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

The driver then got out of his car, untied the dogs from the bumper and left them for dead, prosecutors said.

Video showed the man pulling into the parking lot of the Redan Recreation Center. The man apparently backed out of the parking lot to prevent his license plate number from being taken.

Another dog treated for serious injuries

A witness then told police about the dogs and a DeKalb County Animal Control officer later found the two with a rope tied around their necks, according to prosecutors.

A medium-sized black male dog, aged 1 to 7 years old, was found dead at the scene.

The other dog, a medium-sized brindle male approximately 9 months old, was treated for serious injuries and is currently in the care of DeKalb County Animal Services.

Suspect was driving a 2008-2012 Chevrolet Malibu

The suspect’s car was a dark four-door sedan that investigators believe is a 2008-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, according to the prosecutor’s office.
