LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Our team is covering the presidential election as we look to the race to see who will represent Massachusetts’ 1st District in Washington, Congressman Richard Neal or his opponent, independent candidate Nadia Milleron.

Congressman Neal has served the Commonwealth’s 1st District since 2013, but his opponent Nadia thinks it’s time for a change.

“There are currently three bills before Neal that need to be passed and he is blocking them. Whether I win or lose, I’m going to push him to pass these bills, and that’s fentanyl inspection in the district, more doctors in the district, and pension relief for municipal employees and the State where they do not receive. social security to which they contributed,” she said.

When we asked Neal about this legislation, he said the fentanyl issue was something he had been working on for years here in the Commonwealth.

“It’s important to remember that we’ve already passed this legislation, so it’s kind of an academic conversation when you say we’re going to do more on something that’s already passed,” Neal said. “Ed Markey and I were in Holyoke years ago, before anyone even talked about the issue, and we actually submitted legislation from my committee, from my tenure as chairman, that was passed.”
