Mike Tyson ‘nearly died’ in June and needed 8 blood transfusions

Mike Tyson “nearly died” in June.

The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion lost in a controversial comeback fight to Jake Paul on Friday night, November 15, but had “no regrets.”

He wasn’t feeling too discouraged as he was fit enough to get back into the ring after an ulcer forced him to postpone the fight, which was originally scheduled to take place in July.

He posted on

“I almost died in June. I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy again, so I won .

“Seeing my children see me face to face and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys stadium is an experience no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Jake, 27, was quick to offer his support to his opponent.

He replied: “I love you Mike. It was an honor. You are an inspiration to all of us.”

After the fight, the social media star admitted he went easy on Mike because he “didn’t want to hurt him” and deliberately didn’t push for a knockout when he seeing as his opponent was struggling in the ring.

When asked if he slowed down during the post-fight press conference, Jake replied: “Yes, definitely a little. I wanted to give a show for the fans, but I didn’t want to hurt anyone which didn’t need to be.

“I tried to give the best fight I could, but when someone is just surviving in the ring, it’s hard to make that exciting.

“I couldn’t really convince him to engage me or slip shots and do something super cool or whatever.”
