    What Ole Miss football must pay Georgia for storming the field

    Ole Miss football made quite a statement in college football by achieving No. 2 Georgia at home Saturday with a 28-10 victory.

    But the Rebels’ highest-ranked AP home win in school history came with a hefty fine.

    Shortly before Lane Kiffin and Ole Mademoiselle put an end to their anger victory over Georgia On Saturday, Rebels fans violated the SEC’s “competition zone access” policy, beginning to storm the field with 16 seconds remaining in the contest. They were briefly sent to the back of the end zone, before returning to the assault on the field once the game became final.

    And because the Rebels violated the conference’s “access to competition area” policy, which included several students jumping on the goal posts, Ole Miss will have to pay Georgia $250,000 for a second violation.

    How much does Ole Miss owe Georgia after storming the field?

    As a second-time violator of the SEC’s updated competition zone access policy, Ole Miss will owe Georgia $250,000 for Saturday’s on-field assault.

    The Rebels were initially fined for violating the SEC’s competition zone access policy last season, October 1, 2023after fans stormed the field following Ole Miss’ win over LSU.

    SEC Policy on On-Field Attacks

    The SEC updated its competition space access policy at the conference’s spring meetings in 2023. The policy states:

    “Institutions must limit access to competition areas to student-athletes, coaches, officials, support staff and duly accredited or authorized persons at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators, at no time before, during or After a competition, spectators cannot enter the competition area.

    Financial penalties range from $100,000 for a first offense, $250,000 for a second offense, and $500,000 for three or more offenses.
