World Series: Yankees fans who tried to recover ball from Mookie Betts reportedly banned from Game 5

The stakes and emotions are high as the cross country World Series continues between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees.

The Fall Classic highlighted questionable fan behavior, including a moment in the first inning of Game 4 when two Yankees fans were accused of trying to grab the ball from the Dodgers outfielder’s glove , Mookie Betts.

The fans in question were identified as Austin Capobianco and John Peter, both season ticket holders.

Footage from the game reveals that Betts had caught the ball. However, Capobianco was accused of using both hands to remove the ball from Betts’ glove, while Peter allegedly grabbed Betts’ opposite hand at the wrist.

The fans were then kicked out.

“When it comes to the person on the line, it doesn’t matter,” Betts said after the 11-4 Game 4 loss. “We lost. It’s irrelevant. I’m fine… everything’s fine. We lost the game and that’s what I’m focusing on.”

In the hours leading up to Game 5, the evicted fans discovered they would apparently face more consequences.

ESPN reported Wednesday that fans were banned from attending Game 5.

The source who briefed ESPN’s Jesse Rogers said it was unclear whether Yankees fans would be banned for other games next season.
