Neighbors of tragic southwest Las Vegas fire demand quick response

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – FOX5 received 911 calls reporting a fire in southwest Las Vegas that killed four people and sent a mother and child to the hospital.

Ibrahim Adem, 48, Abdusalem Adem, 43, Anaya Adem, 7, and Aaliyah Adem, 6, were found by Clark County firefighters the day of the fire.

A mother and child who jumped to escape the fire are still recovering in hospital.

First responders arrived around 4:15 a.m. Oct. 24 on Langhorne Creek Street. It’s near Jones Boulevard and Shelbourne Avenue.

Arriving crews found a three-story home with fire coming from the second and third story windows. The first team attempted to enter the house, but was repelled by the heat.

The fire was extinguished at 4:22 a.m. The four people were found at 6:03 p.m. The house collapsed.

Clark County firefighters confirmed the house fire did not spread to other homes, but initial 911 callers believed the fire spread to two homes.

“There’s a fire behind me on Hunter Brook Street. The whole house is falling apart,” a 911 caller said. “Someone is inside screaming.”

“I understand,” the dispatcher said. “What’s on fire?”

“The whole house.”

“We are on our way,” the dispatch said. “Keep everyone away.”

Another caller informed medics and firefighters that their neighbor’s house was on fire and confirmed the fire was on Langhorne Creek.

“Next to my house, their house is on fire,” another caller said. “There are people in the house and there are flames.”

“Is this the fire on Hunter Brook Street?” asked the expedition.

“No, it’s on Langhorne Creek Street.”

A fifth call to dispatch reported that the fire was spreading to another house.

“I call fire. I don’t know. We hear someone screaming,” he said. “We don’t know if they are okay. We have to hurry.

Another caller told the dispatcher they were getting in a car to “rescue anyone.”

“Come on, let’s get in the car, we have to help,” one caller said.

“Do not enter the house,” the dispatch said. “Stay away. The units are on their way.

The fire escalated to a second alarm and additional support was requested. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, the Henderson Fire Department and Nevada Task Force 1 all responded to the scene.

The first caller from Hunter Brook Street would call the fire and medical department again.

“Two houses are on fire and they are about to explode,” they said.
