Clouds and rain become more frequent

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – Although the forecast is not very seasonal at the moment, the long range forecast is starting to show weather closer to November. There is still the current heatwave and plenty of rain to bring the first alert forecast back to normal.

This evening – Clouds will not disappear anywhere overnight and rain chances will be limited until Sunday morning. There is a small chance of patchy fog, but with clouds and wind this development will be difficult. Winds will be from the southeast at 5-10 mph. Low temperatures tonight will still be above the seasonal average of 32 degrees and will be closer to the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Lows tonight will be above average in the 30s and 40s.

Sunday – As the sun rises, we wake up to rain clouds. We have a boundary that will pass in the morning ahead of a cold front. This boundary will bring a few showers moving in to the northwest and out to southeast portions of central Michigan. The rain line will be broken and showers will be light.

At midday it will be dry but cloudy. The cold front rolls in in the evening around dinner and continues to show up around bedtime. There will be some moisture associated with the front, but it won’t be much. Just a light patchy rain could develop IF there is enough moisture present with the cold front.

Next week – We are monitoring next week’s forecast as two systems will make the forecast heavy with rain. The first system arrives early in the week, but the center of the storm remains to the west while turning rain in our direction on Tuesday.

The next system arrives mid-week. Since the energy of the two systems interacts, the timing is inconsistent. Timing also affects the development of the second storm. Right now, the second storm appears to bring liquid precipitation to mid-Michigan.

However, with the timing, phases and amount of cold air circulating, changes could occur. Stay informed on air, online and on First Weather Alert app. Once this system ends late next week, we will have seasonal highs in the 40s. Also prepare for lots of clouds this week. Monday morning will be the best opportunity to enjoy the sun.
