The visit to Manaus will mark the first time a US president has visited the Amazon region, with Biden expected to focus on environmental preservation and forest protection during his visit. The White House confirmed that Biden plans to speak with local leaders and people involved in Amazon preservation projects. The president’s stay in Manaus will be short and is expected to last approximately four hours. Biden will be accompanied by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Brazil. Although Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was initially expected to attend the Manaus meeting, his presence has not yet been confirmed. After his visit to the Amazon, Biden will travel to Rio de Janeiro, where he will participate in the G20 summit and a bilateral meeting with Lula.
