A cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lane Allen Road at Garden Springs Drive in Lexington Wednesday evening.

According to Lexington police, authorities were dispatched to the scene around 5:30 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a cyclist.

According to police, witnesses found the cyclist unconscious. The identity of the victim is currently unknown.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is under investigation.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
