LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Tropical Storm Sara has slowed to a crawl near Central America.

Sara will slowly move west toward Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula over the weekend, where heavy rain and flooding are likely. Beyond that, it is expected to move westward, into the Yucatan Peninsula, by Sunday.

The good news for us at SWLA is that future Sara is not expected to be a threat to us. There’s a chance Sara won’t even survive the interaction with the Yucatan Peninsula on Sunday. Even if it does, a stronger cold front is expected to move into the area early next week, which should bring what becomes (or remains) Sara northeastward early next week.
