Could Oklahoma Football get Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq back this week?

Although the Oklahoma Sooners won’t be playing to earn a spot in a title game or the College Football Playoff, they have an opportunity to finish the season on a high note with three games remaining.

Starting this week against Missouri, the Sooners face three top 25 teams in the Tigers, Alabama and LSU. And they might start attacking at just the right moment. Things are looking a little better for quarterback Jackson Arnold after his re-entry against South Carolina, and he could get some help this week.

Brent Venables mentioned that wide receivers Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq could return for the Sooners when they make the trip to Columbia to face old Big 8 and Big 12 foe Missouri.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday evening, Jackson Arnold was a little more emphaticsaying, “I feel like on the floor you have two explosive guys coming back who are key parts of our offense.”

He then talked about the confidence it gives the Sooners offense to have both leaders on the field. Burks and Farooq would open things up for the offense through the air and on the ground. Burks in the slot and Farooq on the outside give the Sooners two dynamic playmakers who can make life much easier for Arnold and the offense on the road at Missouri.

Farooq was injured in the first series of the season, breaking his foot and requiring surgery. Burks lost in the loss to Tennessee. With both having the opportunity to return this week and with what the Sooners have shown on offense over the past two weeks, things could work out with three games remaining, giving the Sooners an opportunity to finish out the 2024 season on a good note.
