More than a dozen campaign signs stolen from Marietta yards

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Campaign signs were stolen over a dozen yards in Marietta.

“I pulled into the driveway and saw it was gone and I was like that’s it. My sign was stolen,” Courtney Bellmann said.

Bellman is one of many people whose campaign signs were torn down. His was for the Harris-Walz campaign.

“I heard about a lot of people having theirs stolen, and then once I started talking about it, I started hearing about more and more people having theirs stolen,” Bellmann said.

Patty, who also lives in Marietta, had two signs taken from her, including one that wasn’t even partisan. It simply said, “Your voice matters.” Vote.”

“I don’t know who these people are. I just know it’s not a very good thing to do,” Patty said.

Both women went to the Marietta Police Department over the matter.

Police told Atlanta News First it’s something they’re looking into.

“It just seems a little unfair and it makes me sad that someone is trying to take my voice away. I will not accept any other signs,” Bellmann said.

This isn’t just a problem in Marietta and it’s not just a problem with the Harris-Walz signs. Trump-Vance campaign signs defaced in Tennessee.

“I’m really sorry that we can’t agree to disagree in a nice way,” Patty said.

In Georgia, removing, defacing or altering signs is illegal and a misdemeanor punishable by maximum penalties of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to $1,000.
